It was the switch. When fitting the switch you may have to change the polarity if the window goes up instead of down, by swapping two connectors on the plug.

Thanks for the replies. As I took the whole window assemble apart including the running tracks (which I think is called the regualtor?) I disconnected the motor from the assemble the motor would run...

Thanks for the advice. Done the searches.It would seem the down side on these tyres are that they may wear quickly and that they are summer tyres. I have just 30k miles on the diamaris lots of thread...
