My 2002 4.4 makes the same noise at startup. Whenever cold there is a rattle noise but it goes away as soon as the engine starts. BMW couldn't find anything wrong but my family owns an auto parts...

Thanks for the idea. My X is still under warranty so I plan on just driving it until it quits. I know that sounds bad but since they can't find the prob now maybe they can when it quits. :rofl:
