What is this box looking piece under my hood?

Thought it was the sound of clean injectors tickling my ears, turns out when I put my ear to this piece it sounds like something inside it about to break off judging by how loud it is. What is it?

All it does is give a higher throttle response by remapping the throttle pedal position sensors....
