I have had my 2002 x5 for 4 years now and it has been a nightmare.

2 keys
door lock
alternator
pdc sensor
memory seat unit
cast bracket for drivers door
Electric mirror motor
fan controller

I purchased a 2002 3.0 and have had a huge number of issues however a friend of mine got the 4.4 with even more problems. Fuel consumption between the 2 are not vastly different. 3.0 has been a dream...

PROBLEMS!!

I wish I had not picked this out as an option, have had several issues with the auto fold mirrors and it costs a bundle to have them fixed. My advise would be to stick with what you have.
