Inserting the key and ignition ON is not enough. You have to have the engine running to program the opener.

Engine noise when starting from cold

2008 X5 3.0 with 50,000 miles
2 months out of BMW warranty with still in extended warranty.

Engine is very loud when I start in the morning and it is cold outside. It becomes quiet after a while....
