Ok. I am able to get my dead MK3 power on again. It can read CD I inserted in.
However I am still not able to upgrade or downgrade NAV OS using various CD media. The screen still showed blue...

Park or Neutral mode

I had the same problem earlier. I could not start my car in "Park" mode. I switched it to "Neutral" mode and started. It worked.

Now I switch between "Park" and "Neutral" mode all the time to...

I found this solution from another thread. Good luck to those who had the same issue as mine. It apperead my MK3 still has some value once I fix it. Hahaha.... I still plan to buy an aftermarket...

My recent experience told me not to update whatsoever. I have a MK3 - 2002 X5 as well. I tried to update the software with a wrong CD format. It killed my MKIII while the wrong CD struck inside...

Thanks for your tips to unlock that black clip. I am finally able to do it right to unlock it. I will see if I can unload my struck CD disk inside the MKIII drive next.
