An elusive leak path
Hi, it's hard to believe those posts were in 2013, time flies...

Valve stem seals cannot EVER...

Trying to pass smog? This is what I'd do.
Sorry, replying without reading much of the work history: before you try anything else:
1.) replace the oil filler cap and the o-rings on your dipstick.
2.) an oil change using BMW's new...

ZDH Treatise - unproofread.
BMW's Dynamic Handling Package (ZDH) has the greatest impact on the X5 - while nice to have in the 7, 6 and occasional 5 - the X5 is where this option really shines. I have an e53 with sport...

Two cents:
Reinstalling the Vacuum pump: Easiest way I've found to reinstall the brake-booster vacuum pump is to open the oil-fill cap and use a long thin screwdriver to guide the vacuum pump's...

Answer to an ancient question
Inside the climate control module, there is a small fan that draws air from the car's interior and past a temperature sensor. The fan is active anytime the car is not "asleep" - the car wakes up...

Check for oil in the intake
I would not recommend disconnecting the PRV lines while the engine is running. You'd likely not do any damage, but its not worth the risk. Even if you managed to seal the intake ports, its not...
