Driving down the hill slowly, I put on brakes to slow down at the bottom, and a cyclic grinding noise came from under the middle of the car.
I suspect it might be a transfer case.


Any Ideas?

The gearbox error pops up every now and then, but that is the selector switch.
Switch the car off, go in and out of park once or twice and the error is gone.
So oneday I might open it up and repair...

Got the tape deck working.
Ended up the little motor that does the play selection needed some oil on the spindle.
Use sewing machine oil.

So now it is fixed

The total cost in parts was the regulator at about 26 dollars from a Bosch dealer

Item IB200

The time whit splitting the casing probably an hour, but if only the regulator is changed then only...

The alternator seems to have an induced field to activate the rotor

With this the unit does not need brushes, and so one less wear part

Brilliant design

Steps to follow

So the first step is to remove the pulley
Then take the four bolts out and the one nut on the positive terminal

This allows the black cover to be popped off, the silicone was old and so it popped...

The parts where easy to find
The regulator cost about 26 Dollars. Bosch number IB200
The bearings are a 6203 and B17-99D (17x52x17)

Next instalment

Removed the exhaust system

Cut apart the cats, removed the innards, and welded it all together.

The innards are a littke melted
And the INPA shows an inbalance
