E53 2005 3.0 strut shock ?

I learned the struts support the shocks and my one strut is bad, should I replace both the shock and strut on both sides? Or just struts on both sides?

Thank you Wayne! Hooked up my old stereo, came up with a 10 min timer. Had activate and deactivate as options as well as a code. Put in 0000 and selected deactivate and the car started right away....
