rethreading axle spindle

Per my previous posting of looking for an axle, I did find one but there is slight damage to the thread which prevents me from starting the nut. Anyone ever have any luck rethreading the spindle?

X5 Salvage Yard? Need Front Axle

Does anyone know of a good source of X5 salvage yard(s) in the US? I need a driver's side axle assembly.
