Its a tough call, i dont think it would be ethical to dump the X5 without letting the next owner know the issues. Or, you could repair the damaged parts and then drive it yourself. I am not even sure...

There is only one thing that i have noticed, there arent alot of grease nipples on the X5!! I know with my Jeeps there are LOTS!! every joint has one (mostly MOOG or other higher end replacement...

You could always recycle the steel parts at a metal recycler, I save up rotors and such and when i have a stack I bring them in and collect some $$ not enough to retire on, but maybe for a couple...
