Thanks to the info in this thread, I also ordered a set if stealth bulbs from Bimmian. The price was $25 + $10 shipping (). They should be here in 5-8 FedEx working days.

Reboud, do you have any info or pics on the DDE's?

No, I'm moving this week/end, and then I head for San Diego on business the next week, so my head's not in any serious modding for a few weeks.

Ok - got the bulbs today - here's the pictures:

I didn't take a picture of the side markers before I installed the stealth bulbs, but just imagine an orange bulb in a clear marker. Here's the "after:"

I know it's a little hard to see, but hopefully you can see it. Next, I've got to bake those suckers and take out the orange!

That's what I have right now, because I haven't baked my lights yet. I need to order some angel eyes first, and work up the stones!
If you look at the last picture in my post, it's got the silver bulbs (that blink orange), with the factory orange reflector.

Just do it! :) Its really not that bad. Atleast you know someone on this board can help you out if you run into any issues. When I did it, I was on my own. BTW, who are you getting the angel eyes from? Jlevi?

Curious, how come you didn't get the ones that blink white? Doesn't it defeat the purpose of removing the orange reflector if your turn signal glow yellow? Remember, your turn signal stays on at night. :thumbdown

I'll probably end up getting them from Jlevi.

I didn't want the white blink lights. I don't mind that they're orange when lit - that's the law and all!
:)

Thanks! I do have to give a big  to mpowerman. I believe he was the first brave soul to put angel eyes on a X3. He got them installed by umnitza along with the custom painted white headlights. It was his X that inspired me to put angel eyes on mine. I couldn't afford to ship my headlights to umnitza since my X was my daily driver so I took on the challenge of installing it myself. Good luck with your install rebound. Let me know if you need any help.

I did a very simply mod to my side marker lights on my X5. I sprayed a light coat of silver spray paint on them. They look silver and still blink orange. The bulb is so small and the white reflector do not give away a cheap look. Total cost: $0.0003 worth of silver spray paint I already had in the garage.
