The 1996 wasn't too bad, small problems but the tranny was slipping when it went back with 60K miles. The '99, that's another story. It spent more time on a lift at the dealer than it did under my behind! I logged 132 days in service in less than 2 years. Mostly drivetrain related. Told Stealer I wanted out (lease) and wanted a new one. Stealer and Chrysler jerked me and refused to do anything. Long story short, wrote a letter to the Attorney General documenting everything, every work order. They not only got Chrysler to buy out my lease but got me 10K in damages. Hello BMW!

It's a shame but I will never buy another american car. :tsk:

Laura, this is your second X isn't it? Girl you have a thing for v8 power, don't you. BTW those wheels remind me of style 87.

Yes, I had an '01 4.4. Gotta have a V8. Can't have someone pull up next to me and have more under the hood than me! Pisses me off. :tantrum: Seriously thinking about the 4.8 when this goes back.

I had a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan - the top end one with all the bells and whistles. Almost from the day we got it my wife and I hated it (I had preordered while overseas, and never had an opportunity to check one out in person). Long story short, I took a huge hit on resale value, and bought my X3! Let's just say I'm soooo glad I did!

Anyway, as cool as that SRT-8 or whatever it is looks, I wouldn't touch a Daimler-Chrysler product again (not including Mercedes). The sad part is, one of my brothers has a good buddy that works for Jeep. The guy is a psycho about how great all D-C products are. I truly enjoyed telling him I dumped that f***ing van for a BMW!

I inquired about the Jeep before trading in my 03 4.4. Specs for the new Jeep sound good, and it's a pretty good looking vehicle, but I reminded myself (reality check) about the problems we've had with 3 previous Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltds: brake rotor problems, tranny problems, fit-n-finish problems. Traded for an 05 4.8is instead (ya, "slightly" more expensive  ). Other than the crappy wiper blades, I'm glad I did. Thing really screams in sport or manual up/down shifting modes.

Ha-ha! Good move and welcome to the club! It is a shame though. I havn't owned an American made car since 1985, and the last one I owned was a '67 Pontiac Firebird I bought in 1976. Wish I'd never sold that one.
