Heated steering wheel question

My E83 has a sport steering wheel without a heated rim. The assigned button instead turns on and off the recirculation function. I now have an opportunity to buy a used wheel in real good condition that has a heated rim instead of a recirc toggle assigned to the button. The new/used wheel comes with the switch panels that have the proper button and the guts of the wheel are all there except for the airbag. The question is; will I need any other parts to make this conversion and will the switch be straight forward? Will I need to do much more than just replace the wheel? I'm hoping someone has made this switch and can advise me on the difficulty.

I "think" this has been done on the E53 forum so maybe check there. Wiring diagrams are going to be your best friend.
You could also check to see if the clock springs are the same part number.

Thanks getty150

Thanks for the link. The linked schematic shows the Heated Wheel Module downstream from the clock spring so it is a safe assumption the module is in the wheel itself. If I can get the wheel with all its contents sans airbag it should have that module. I will still have to make sure the clock-spring has the pins and if they are live.
