Snow Tires?

I know it's not winter, but it will be upon us quickly enough.

I'll need to outfit my X3 with four snow tires, so I'm looking for recommendations.

The TireRack suggests Dunlop M3's, which I loved on my 330i, but aren't they car tires? Don't I need light-truck tires?

Also, do most of you get additional rims, or do you have the tires mounted on the stock rims?

Thanks
Andre

Many of us who run/have run winter tires
do so on a set of cheapazz wheels or a
set of dedicated BMW oem/clone wheels
in place of our summer "hotties".

A size smaller/narrower makes for tenacious
grip, too.

Your call, as you know what kind of crap
your stock wheels will see during the winter...

that tire unmount/mount/unmount/mount process
is not generally kind to the wheel either.

I would too, but we might get that much on a Saturday, then twice that the next day :)
