Try a little silicon on the window seals. They could be dirty and the windows are not free to move up and down. The same mechanism raises the window regards of where you activate it.
Don't coast backwards. Or maybe you have a clogged fuel filter? You have three minor issues at 25k miles. I wouldn't worry to much about those. That's what a warranty is for. |
Thanks for your replies--I agree that these are minor issues and nothing to be too concerned about. I orginally went in because of the squeaky steering wheel. They told me it was not a matter of topping off the power steering fluid, but possibly a problem with the seal in the steering column. So, I decided to make a "wish list" before going back. They did tell me that they were going to replicate my experience by letting it sit overnight and having the tech drive it first thing in the morning.
Hopefully my loaner will not be the only vehicle that would be a disappointment: an X3 2.5. Will keep you posted. . . |

Don't forget to ask them to rotate the air in your tires... :D

SERVICE UPDATE:
Dropped off the car last night and drove around the lot with the tech. He acknowledged the squeaky steering sound and admitted that it is VERY common in X5's, but this was the first he had heard it in the X3. Getting fixed today. Also, they informed me of a Bluetooth recall on my X--who knows, maybe my Samsung non-compatable phone will work now? No promises. LOANER: 2007 White/Tan 328xi, 7 miles on odometer (tried to pair my bluetooth phone and it worked right away) Oh yeah, one other thing, $1185 for 100,000 miles extended full maintenance through Erhard BMW of Bloomfield Hills. Sounds VERY reasonable, considering a full brake job is probably 800. |
The coasting in reverse thing... Do you start the car, maybe move it a short distance, then shut the car off almost immediately and then re-start it?
