Potential purchase - front suspension turret problem
Hi All,
We're currently looking around for an X3 auto around 2004. Just viewed one which was looking to be a good deal but have noticed that the spot welds in the engine bay around the top of one of the front suspension turrets are a bit rusty and the paint around them is bubbling. Do you think this means that a repair has taken place in the past or is this something which I don't need to be worried about? On the same turret, two of the nuts which hold the top mount of the suspension are also rusty - could it just be that side of the engine bay just happened to suffer from water ingress more than the other? the other turret is looking pristine - no rust and the welds look fine. |
Sounds like it was repaired. Do you have vehicle history with any notes about accidents?

Thanks for the reply.
Dealer has the history of the vehicle but they have no records of any repairs done. It's a one owner car so I'll ask them if they can contact the original owner to see if any damage has been done in the past. Brian |
I would seek an independent assessment by an inspector experienced in identifying these types of repairs.

Dealer is unable to confirm or deny if a repair has been done previously so I'm walking away from the car...
Thanks for the help guys. |
