Yes, it does. And I installed mine under the center console.

Aux input in centre arm rest

7 Attachment(s)
I have today installed my Aux input in the centre armrest.

I picked up the part for £39.95, and fitted it myself in about 1 hour (saving £160 if i had had it fitted)

I connected to the back of the stereo as normal and then routed the cable down and behind the ashtray, to the left hand side of the gear lever, and then passed along the centre tunnel to the armrest. I was thinking of drilling and mounting the plate in the storage bin, but it has not been necessary. I wanted to minimise any damage to the fittings and have done the complete install without any holes drilled.

I did have to take out bits of the dash and gear lever gator to get access for a draw wire, this was a bit fidderly but it did work. I have then connected a stereo 3.5mm jack to the Aux cable and secured this within the arm rest with a cable tie. The other end of the stereo jack can then plug into my IPod.

I chose this route as the IPod can then be used by myself as well as front and rear passengers if they want. It sits nicely in the cup holder.

Incidently the proper IPod cable was £120 and does not allow me to choose an album in the normal way and play it. It treats the IPod as a Multi change CD player and can forward through tracks only. It also turns of the Ipod screen so you would not be able to see what is playing.

I will not be able to change the IPod tracks on the steering wheel, but i can now use the ipod as normal. I have the IPod video version, so i assume when i learn how it works, i can watch video on the IPod and have sound through the car stereo.

Regards

That's exactly what I did, but you took pics . I had the iceLink, but... well that's a long story. So do you just take it home to charge when it needs? Or are you going to set up something in the car?

I will probably get a car charger, and use it as and when i need it.

If i need something better, i may pick up a feed from the rear cig lighter and put a charger in the centre armrest storage bin.

I will see how i get on.

Belkin do a product that pligs into a lighter socket and has an iPod dock connector on the bottom. It charges and takes audio from the iPod that way and feeds it to a 3.5mm socket in the piece that goes in the lighter socket.

Advantages: iPod volume and eq settings do not affect listening sound / volume and only one connection to iPod charges and gets sound. I have used it in previous cars by fitting a lighter socket extension hidden away somewhere and wired in behind the dash, thus all you have on show is the plug that goes in the iPod dock connector.

I went a slightly different route for a different need... I put my aux in the glove box. My use is for an XM MiFi. I also bought BMW's adapter that plugs into the flashlight port in the glove box and terminates into a power outlet (lighter type). I put the XM antenna on the dash in the corner (where it is nearly invisible) and ran the cable into the glove box. The entire MiFi setup is then entirely in the glove box with no wires showing. I then use the remote control to change channels on the MiFi. Not great, but it gets the job done and ran less than $50 for the install...
