Bluetooth for 2003 e53 4.4i
 

Hi,

I am trying to figure out if I will be able to purchase parts to install bluetooth in my X5. The build date is December 2002. I have the button on the steering wheel with the face and sound waves coming from his mouth. I also have a rectangular grill in the headliner that may have the mic in it. I am not sure how to tell. Will it be possible to install bluetooth?

You can ,but it is very expensive from BMW ...................

Just get gromusb with bluetooth built in for about $175.

Sorry I didn't read Your whole tread, You will need the manual for the blue tooth, there is a 4 number code, go to the on board monitor, go to telephone , turn on your cells blue tooth , it will see the BMW ,let it pair , enter the 4 # code , and that should do it , if there is no signal from the BMW , go to where your cd and radio are in the back of the car, pull out the floor in that corner ,there are 4 plastic screws ,4mm , pull that cover off and You should see the blue tooth module mounted on the wall,make sure that it is plugged in , it a snap climp , there 2 more screw holding it to the wall ,
You can pair it before You close up the back . that should do it...

Your car should already have bluetooth in it. The bluetooth is limited to telephone functions, it will not play Pandora for you, for example.

Getting your phone to pair with the car is a bit of a trick, timing is everything. Holding your tongue against the roof of your mouth while spitting wooden nickels seems to help too.

Seriously, timing is everything. Once you get the phone to pair, then it will connect each time you get in the car, you never have to deal with pairing again, unless you want to add another phone.

In your package of Owner's Manual books, there should be a card with a pairing code printed on it. You will need to know this code else you cannot pair your phone.

because the build date of your x5 is before mid 2004 your Bluetooth wont work with any phones except the one that comes with the car from factory I think

if you have the bmw assist package and if your x5 has the module in the back already which sounds like you do

you can buy a Bluetooth module off ebay from a x3 or a 2005/6 x5 and its plug and play, the pairing code is on the sticker on the module

first 2 mins of ignition on is pairing mode

I would have gotten this if my X5 didn't have DSP and NAV. I got the Dynavin N6 for a helluva $799 but it's worth it.

I have the GROM unit and really like it. I think I will eventually upgrade to a Android.
