Yeah and honestly the more I think about it, the more I don't want to incur another large repair out of pocket. The money is there but I'm already above KBB in what I have into it so putting more money in at this point doesn't seem like a logical decision. Right now I have the get out while I can mindset.

Anyway on the price... Would you guys even look at an add that said 13k for a 4.6? On Craigslist I'm seeing in the 11-12 range (slightly higher miles than mine). I think if I could get 12 I'd be happy but that may be a shot in the dark. As easy as it would be, I don't even want to think about trade in as I know it would be less then what I have left on my loan.

Last July I paid in the $14K range for a 4.8is with 108K on it. I felt like I was paying a little too much, but I was happy to do it with the driving experience.

And, of course, like you I've also hit a good percentage of big ticket repairs. Transfer case, valley pan, air suspension, drive shaft, CV axle...

Luckily labor rates are relatively low here. I'm keeping it. Too much fun to drive.

Unless it had under 70k miles and was a perfect 1 owner garage queen beauty. We are talking about a 13 year old vehicle here, quickly going on 14 years old. They aren't appreciating with age like say the E39 M5 either.

Worst thing that can happen is be firm on your price and you'll end up sitting on it for a while waiting for the right buyer, or maybe find someone who wants your exact vehicle and would get close to your price.

Another reason why I recommended to not take out a car note on a 13 year old X5 because when the inevitable "I dumped a bunch of money in and can't fathom another big repair" happens, now you're over your head and can't take the negative equity on trade.

DRIVE THE DAMN CAR. You just put 5k into it, why are you selling? the fact of the matter is, you are very caught up on preventative and regular maintenance. Drive it like you should, stop being scared, and romp on the damn pedal.

YOu will not be happy in a F150 after driving this car. You are crazy. Unless you plan on doing construction, no reason to get a truck....

Enjoy it, remember, my mom drove the same car for 150k miles, and she's not exactly the preventative maintenance queen. (and she never let the car warm up before putting in reverse).

Truthfully, even after everything I've done to it, I can not gain confidence in it. I don't enjoy driving it because every squeak, rattle, and vibration makes me lose sleep at night. At the end of the day, I did go about this car all wrong (even though I thought at the time I didn't). It's been a great lesson in what not to do when buying a used car.

With that said, I checked prices around my area, the lowest price being 9k for 145k up to 15k with 103k. I think I can price it somewhere in the middle and be alright. It won't go in a day but i think it will be priced fairly after I clean it up and detail it really good. I guess if i get really desperate I can try trading it in.

Agree. Took my 06 4.8is with 122,000 miles to Carmax a few weeks ago with my girlfriend for her to look at a few cars, and out of curiosity and had time to burn, I let them give me a buy bid (not that I'm looking to sell).

I am in a similar boat as you but I have a 95 Bronco as my daily (though the water pump just failed last night).

She's got her timing chain guides done and I'm about to change the trans and diff and tc fluids. I am a previous E39 whore (Dan on BFC) and know my way around on this platform but the will to do the fluids is.. Meh. Maybe its because I moved out of Jersey and to Texas and don't have the same support system I had.

The 4.6 is great car but I feel you where every time I start her up, I have to wonder what can go wrong. It is the randomness of it all. The Bronco.... She's so predictable and soooo cheap to fix/maintain though doing the fix isn't as easy. I think the E53 (03) is the last of the "engineered for DIYer's" at a reasonable price.

Seeing how you've done most of the work, enjoy it man.
