Help!!! Wheel bearing? Control arm? Tie rods?
The noise seems to be coming from the front left wheel. Only happens when making turns? I am trying to pinpoint this so I can fix it ASAP. I am going to try and look at it this weekend now that the weather is warming up. Please watch the posted videohttps://vimeo.com/123992956

I could only here a very faint clicking. I doubt it would be CABs, and a wheel bearing is typically a whirrling noise. Could potentially be a CV joint. Jack up the front of the car and give a good look around. Look for excess grease flung everywhere from a torn CV boot or for play in the wheel/suspension parts.

Sounds like CV axles. I had an X5 and a Hummer H2 make similar noises back when I worked at a shop and replacing them fixed the noise.

Agree on maybe being CV joints. The turn signal wasn't really helping though. Maybe put the windows down and do some tight figure 8's in a parking lot at slow speeds to see if you hear it in one or both directions.

We diagnosed a bad wheel bearing by putting X on a lift and listening to the wheels with a stethoscope. Not sure if that is an option for you but my Indy has a scope in his shop just for that use.
good luck |
