I have driven down to 'E' on more than one occasion, electronics showing '31 miles' to empty. Drives the CEO crazy if she is in the co-pilot seat. Since changing the plugs, I'm getting 20.5+ mpg [calculated manually] in mixed Atlanta commuter driving, usually on Kroger premium gas, so I'm well over 400m per tank. Best tank ever was 24+ on a late Fall highway run to SC and back ..... worst, towing a horse trailer back uphill from Florida, was closer to 15 .....

The Lucas UCL might have broken up some injector buildup (better fuel atomization will produce improved burn cycles), and removed valve/combustion chamber carbon deposits (improves cylinder filling and reduces combustion chamber "hot spots", can cause early ignition, resulting in knock sensors triggering timing retard). Don't know why I used "loose" in place of "lose" in my prior post. Brain fart??? |

I mix 3oz of Lucas & StaBil per gallon for my 4 stroke lawn gear & Honda pressure washer, all my 2 stroke gear gets VP Racing Syn premix (zero ethanol). EVERYTHING starts with 1 or 2 pulls, even spring "first starts"!

Good man ^ I like the TruFuel 50:1 at Home Depot (ethanol free and used in my Redmax blower and trimmer) and 40:1 for my chainsaw. When its leaf season I just use the Redmax 2-cycle oil and 93 octane since I blow through a gallon every other week at that time, last tank of the season gets Stabil Marine (more ethanol prevention) and run until empty.
My Scag 52" Advantage is 12 years old with a V-twin Kawi FH500V engine and besides yearly oil changes, a spark plug change bi-yearly, air filter every few years and fuel filter, it starts on 1st or 2nd pull every time, always put 93 in it and Stabil Marine when getting ready to keep in shed for winter |

pumping gas is not fun for me. Unless I am on a trip I always let it get down near 12-14 miles. One reason is I always buy gas at the same Chevron station and I always fill it up. I do the Techron concentrate once in awhile and the gas has Techron in it.
I accept additives can make a difference in mileage and performance in an engine but because of the high temperature of the combustion chamber I am skeptical that a fuel additive can lubricate anything. I don't worry about fuel pump damage. Last I knew an engine won't run on fumes. As long as the pickup is submerged you aren't pumping fumes. When the pickup is not submerged fuel pressure drops, the engine stumbles a few seconds and quits running. |
Please explain the connection between opinions on additives for an X5 and stuff being used for lawnmowers and chain saws? Unless you are entering the chainsaw contest at the Lumberjack festival in Wisconsin or racing riding lawnmowers who cares? My chainsaw cuts down trees. My mower mows the lawn--
