Just listened to the video - not a valve or lifter "tick" to me.

There is a trick to the hydraulic tensioners - they ship locked in a retracted position and have to be freed one way or another when you install them. Did you do that?

No checked over it all before installation. Will check that tho

Have sort of come across vanos rattle In last few hours. Will look into it further

The classic vanos rattle goes away within the first 5-10 seconds after startup. It doesn't _usually_ stick around after startup.

Not really. You can have a cold rattle that will last a few mins after start up. Sometimes it might take 30-60 seconds for this rattle to show up. There is also a hot rattle which doesn't start untill after the engine is warm.

I only mentioned vanos because right at the end of the vid while the engine speed is coming down, the sound I heard sounded like a cold vanos rattle... Really hard to tell though with a short cell phone vid, viewed on a cell...

It happens a little on startup. And wen backing off power while driving mainly. And again at turn off. But generally happens when backing off power and takin load off.

Ya that's a better vid. Sorry I can't help anymore. It does not sound good at all and do not know what the sound is.

Where did this guy go? I have this same intermittent sporadic rattle. I guessed it was timing chain tensioner, but haven't done anything about it yet.

That sounds like a chain rattle or chain hitting on the casing or guide rail. I highly doubt its vanos rattle. Its hitting on somtjhing
