The X is throwing codes

Put aftermarket lights on the X last December. They were a set from Pro Tuning Lab (projector headlights) and now the right turn signal is out. From time to time it'll come back on. Same situation goes for my low beam projector light also on the right side.

00-03 BMW X5 E53 Angel Eye Halo Projector Headlights - Smoked With HID Kit

I'll receive codes such as "check side lights, check low beam lights, check high beam lights, and even check license plate lights." When I check the license plate and the high beam lights there is nothing wrong with them.

Now I have led interior lights installed also an led license plate light. Throw in the headlights, dynavin N6, and the pedal box i'm starting to think that it's having a toll on the battery. I got my battery checked with my last oil change last month and they told me the battery is fine. Even showed me the indicator where it said the battery was good.

Aside from checking for loose connections (which I've already done) any ideas of what can be wrong before I spring for a new set of bulbs?

When you bought those headlights, did you order the "warning canceler"? You're getting Check Control messages because the car expects to see different lights. Both the headlights and license plate lights will cause CC messages to be shown. Don't worry about the interior LED's. They won't cause any CC messages.

Check connections on the headlights, those headlights are pretty poor quality however.

LED interior lights throw no codes, LED license plate lights might if they aren't canbus bulbs.

EDIT: If you installed an aftermarket HID kit with those lights and you have a halogen car, that might be your issue.

You can also remove cold monitoring via coding. Cold monitoring checks your bulbs even when they are off. LED cause these issues on our cars.

Most of your problems lie in the aftermarket lighting components used on your vehicle.

Do you have a halogen model? Get the $350 Depo's if anything

mrcarter20 07-05-2016 05:49 PM

So I went with the Depo's and got them installed.

Big upgrade from those "other lights" haha but I get the "check low beam light" even though they're not out. Is there a way I can code them out so the yellow won't show?
