Handbrake bolts
 

Does anyone have any tips for tightening the bolts that hold the handbrake onto the floor without removing the entire center console? The front bolt on mine came completely loose and I don't see an easy access without removing the entire center console :( The vent tube is blocking its access from the side panel. Thanks.

Don't know about tightening the mounting bolts without removing the console. I Just removed my center console last weekend to remove and replace the trim. I did see that video. But, let me give you some guidance. You DO NOT have to remove the dash, seats, and steering wheel. All you have to do is pull the handbrake up (engage it) far enough to clear the cutout in the center console. If it won't go up enough, you could always loosen the adjusting screws. I'd rather re adjust the parking brake than remove my dash. If you PM me your phone number or email, I could send you some pics of the Bentley

Thanks, but removing the center console is what I'm trying to avoid. Also, that video isn't telling the whole story as the plastic tube for the rear vents, which is blocking the bolts that I'm after is absent in the video, which means that it had already been removed. This makes it appeared simpler than it really is :(

Tecboy - from what you're saying, it seems that I need to remove the center console to tighten that one bolt :banghead:

If you remove the rear air vent, Is there enough play to push the duct towards one side and access the bolt?

I doubt it. There isn't any place to push it. It's running in the area between the side panel of the center console and the cup holder sneaking pass the e-brake.

Can you not access the bolts by removing those side fabric/plastic panels on the side of the console?

That's what I've tried. The bolt is buried and the plastic ducting for the rear vent is in the way :( I hate to have the entire center console just to tighten ONE single bolt :angryfire But I may have to bite the bullet one of these days or try again if I can find/figure out a tool to get in there

It is funny someone else have this issue! I have to do the same on mine. The worse part is that yesterday, my instrument lights were flickering. It turned out to be a frayed wire running next to the handbrake mount, the same one you are trying to put a bolt on. I will remove the center console this weekend.

Surely, we can't be the only two with this issue, unless nobody is using their parking brakes??? :wow:
