Also, good luck with the lower ball joints. The e-torx fasteners are notoriously hard to remove. Spray them with PB-Blaster or Kroil and heat them in advance.

I had to drill one bolt out on both sides after the heads snapped.

For the axle, depends how split the boot is, if its not leaking grease, just have him re-boot it with a GKN Loebro boot kit - if its cracked open and spewing grease yes you'd need a new axle
