Not unusual to hear about an X5 that has seen almost no maintenance since warranty ran out.

I assume you used MAF cleaner on the MAF? Sometimes cleaning works sometimes it doesn't. I keep a new one to find out if MAF is the problem. If it is I just leave the new one in place.

For starters--Problem could be DISA valve, maybe just a leaking seal. Does the secondary air pump run on cold starts? Any whirring sound from the pump when it runs?

Do you know what was considered full service and what was the mileage when the oil changes were done?. I'm thinking more about stuff that starts to wear out at 75 to 100,000 and change, suspension as an example.

Yes, whirs, SAP functioning. I do not know volume. As far as what full service was if i knew that. I would not be here. Even though i have 4 Bmmrs total an maintain a fifth, i do not have a relationship with a dealer. I have been getting mixed opinions in DISA valve. I cannot find part number, nor picture. Or a rebuild kit for DISA for N62.

The people who are giving you advice about the DISA valve either
1. don't know that you have a V8 engine, or
2. don't know what they are talking about, or
3. both of the above.

V8 engine does NOT have a DISA valve. That valve is only found on the I6 X5.

That is what i thought. But everyone keeps saying DISA. so i am guessing DiSa equivilent is valve at back of intake. i have to get a friend over to reach back there and check plug. i put plug on before intake was completely seated.

First time today since i put it back together it didnt miss when warm starts. several starts after only sitting for 1-2 hours in 40*F weather. Seems to be getting better. idk. but no codes today.

Are you talking about the CCV? On older V8 they were located at the back of the engine near the firewall, but the newer N62 was redesigned yo have them near the front of the engine.
