Kids and Cargo in the X5 - Struggling
It's that time of the season.....
Just curious how do you guys haul the grocery getter around when you head out with the kids.. Got tow hitch so I'm hemming and hawing at rooftop box, or just a soft bag, rear hitch cargo box, and the plethora of options that are out there. NONE of which I'm akin on. Lookswise, I'm feeling a cargo basket, but eh, the noise and grime. Trunkwise, between a 75 Gallon Orca Coolerbox, and a Kids Wagon, we opt out leaving the stroller at home . It leaves some extra minimal space in the trunk for the personal stuff and all that jazz. Or do you guys have a Expedition as your weekend driver ;-) |
One word "Minivan".
or Two words "Mini Van". |
I could easily see how a family of 4 could quickly fill up a X5. My parents had a suburban (still do) to haul everything around.
Depending on what you are carrying I'd get a roof box |
I'm planning to get a roof box for those family camping trips away, but then we are a family of just three and we currently don't take bikes with us, just a kayak and some camping gear, etc.
Of course, the bikes could go on a tow-hitch rack, if we did decide to include them. Not keen on the idea of towing a baggage trailer though. |

It is the classic "I have two tons of kid stuff to fit in my BMW and it will not fit". I see a Minivan in your future. Just add it now to the stable of cars you own and poof problem is gone. You can pick them up cheap and you will still have your balls and yuppie status intact after you drive one. Here mine. Rescue Dog hauler, Costco runner, Home Depot, and nasty parking lot vehicle (like a National's Game in Wash DC) |
:rofl:Easy solution don't have kids
