Check Brake Linings
There has been an advisory on the cars MOT for a couple of years now - corroded brake pipes/lines.
The discs were lipped also. So i decided to get the following done: 1. Rigid brake lines changed 2. Brake discs changed 3. Brake pads 4. Brake pad sensors 5. Flexi brake pipes The usual brake pad light came on, which cleared after keeping the key in position 2 for 30 seconds. The only error that is still present is the Check Brake Linings. How do i get rid of this error? Unsure which part of the braking system this relates to. |
Did you replace any of the parking / emergency brake components?
|
Hi, Nope they were not replaced. But the caliper was taken off, so maybe a sensor is not reconnected?

Check the Right rear or left front wheels brake wear sensors. Make sure they are connected at the junction box (little plastic box where the wire from the wheel connects to the wiring harness). Disconnect them and reconnect. Make sure the sensors at the pad are NOT broken, clipped, cut etc.
You can test the individual sensors by simply disconnecting the wheel sensor at the junction and jump the wiring harness (connecting both sides with a small piece of wire). The light will go out and that will tell you which sensor/wire is at fault. |

Yes, but it's the procedure listed above... Turn on the vehicle WITHOUT starting for 30 seconds, a minute, ten minutes.... really anything over 30 seconds will usually work! A minute is if you just wanna be sure.... Ten minutes is just killing time really! Okay, so... if you do that and it still doesn't work, you probably have a pinched or broken wire elsewhere in the circuit... If you pull the wheels that have the sensors and there is no sensor connected to the brake pad itself, you need to get a new one! There are only two sensors on the vehicle, not four. Cheers! |
Two sensors, one LF one RR.
