22.4 MPG?! The absolute best I've ever gotten when hypermiling my 4.6 is 18.0.
Glad to see you're racking up some miles on the converted X5. That's awesome! Did you ever resolve the CAN bus error? |
I've seen as high as 19.2-19.5 but usually it is 17.5-18 on the highway. 22 is amazing!

I still have not gotten the ABS/DSC/BRAKE issue worked out... I'm still trying to figure out what I need to change in what module so it will ignore or auto trans parameters... I'll get it eventually, but for now it is working great and I'm trying to get my shop situated for future conversions... Who's ready to convert theirs!?!? Quote:
On a better note, the newest addition X5 (Becky) to the family was taken out for the first time after the motor swap... I found out the hard way it does not have any HEAT!! I froze on the way home yesterday, so I did an emergency alternator change before work today... Ahhhhhh, heated seats and working heater!! And it's a real three pedal to boot!!! Alright!! I'll keep yous posted on the trifecta lights as I get them sorted... Cheers all!!!! |
Good day all!!
So, I had to share this with you all!! I am not aware why this happens, but it is too comical to bother figuring it out... Oh, I noticed the steering wheel was not adjusted when my better half and I were almost home from dinner out... 30 min drive... Enjoy all!!! https://youtu.be/utQXZHlDXMM Cheers!! |
Isn't that a common symptom of a failing ignition switch?

It very well could be... But, that is the only thing that has presented itself thus far... If more things start to act weird, I'll dive into why a little more... Cheers!! |
Just FYI, on the highway I've gotten 21MPG from my 4.6 (about 160k miles) but it does fall quickly in the city.
The best improvement I got after buying it was the fuel pressure regulator, I was getting inconsistent and unstable fuel pressure and about 16.5-17mpg on the same trip before changing it. |

Good day all!!!!!
It is has been some time since I have ventured around the X5 forum... So much going on, it is hard to keep up with everything I want to do... I've been doing a lot these past few months with my coin collection... The garage is a mess and my riding lawn mower is taking up one whole spot... I still have not found a worthy house with enough level land to build my shop... Ahhhhhhh... If I could only find those winning lotto numbers!!! I'll say that Manny is doing great!!! My sister had the unfortunate luck of driving Manny when the right rear tire decided to go... Swapped it out and getting new rear rubber this coming weekend... I still have the tri lights on the dash... I have just found a new version of all the software needed to figure it out... I'll dig into the wiring as well to figure out if I need to re-pin one f the connectors... All the shifter and associated mods are holding up nicely... Everything dealing with the conversion is still doing great... I still have a whine from the motor... I suspected it was the PS pump, but it is still there with the belts off... I think it is the timing chain running over the old guides... So, I was thinking about pulling all the conversion bits and moving them over to a 2003 Sport... OR I could just start over with the 2003 Sport version... I have another full conversion set avail... Thoughts!?! Additionally, are there any others out there doing this conversion to their own X5?! I'd be interested in knowing if others out there are doing this!! Cheers for now everyone!!!!! |
I'm not sure many people are doing it, it seems like a lot of complications and as far as I know, this would make the car illegal in most of Europe...
