You need the bridge to get the gdo to work with the Homelink in the X.

When I was first reading about the HomeLink Bridge, a lot of ppl were saying you shoudnt put the bridge/repeater in the same electrical plug-in as the one the garage door opener is plugged into. Not sure why honestly, but thats where I want to put mine as its out of the way and extremely close to the GDO itself...
