Universal Garage Door Programming
Hi ya'll. This might seem noobish. But I recently just got to use the built-in universal garage door opener in the X5. Since the Home Link is so old, I had to buy a repeater but I had a hard time syncing the two up. I put a video together to highlight what I learned so that you may have an easier time.

Yeah, I had to use repeaters on my newer Chamberlain garage openers. A PITA but the only way for our older UGDOs to be functional. :dunno:

Glad you guys find these vids useful. I can't believe how long it took me to program this thing. I'm actually pretty bright, but this had me. If I can help someone for next time, it's all good.

I did mine today.
It didn't work with the handheld opener. It didn't take with X5 in the garage, but did work when I moved to the driveway. I used the learn button on side of overhead garage. Silly thing. Ps don't mash the learn button for very long, because it will kill all the preprogrammed cars. Yet another First world problem. |

When I had to buy a new GDO a few years ago...when searching as to why the darn UGDO (Homelink) refused to program...it was a lot of 2010/2011 threads that kept rising to the top of the results about programming issues. Then I started seeing info about the frequency change on some GDOs around that time which lead me to old BMWs requiring the use of a "bridge" (Homelink Repeater) to facilitate the old UGDOs communicating with the updated frequencies the newer GDOs were operating on. http://bimmerboard.com/members/q/ori...mote%20Fob.jpg Homelink Repeater hanging from my garage ceiling: :D http://bimmerboard.com/members/q/ori...g%20Outlet.jpg |
