Key problems
Hi
New here.Lots of useful info 👍🏻 I have an old but in good condition 2005 x5 3.0i.. I have a problem with one of my remotes/keys. It started with dead battery and new one soldered in. Both keys reprogrammed and gives the check with lock/unlock. Then the remote doesn't lock,if i lock with other remote i can then unlock with the "problem" remote. What really puzzels me is that the lock button is involved in the reprogramming sequence and the later is not able to lock the car? So before i go and buy a new key i hope for some input. Thanks for your input. |
The switches go bad. There is a guy that does key refurbish for about $60, one possibility. I had similar issues was about to replace the switches then reflowing the solder did the trick.

Thx,but how can the button work during re-programing and then not?

Intermittent connection from a bad solder joint. I could get my key to work by bending it just right sometimes before i reflowed the solder. Once i did that, both of my keys went from wonky to working. If you already replaced your battery with a soldered in rechargeable battery it shouldn't be too difficult to get in there and re flow the solder especially on the switches. The key to getting it to work is liquid solder flux. I use a pen but many people use a little squirt bottle.
