Don't know, but apparently it's common. Ordered a used/refurbished one yesterday.

It's just a display, some buttons and metric crap-tonne of computer circuits. There's only power and a data bus connected to it. Something in the unit is causing activity on the data bus that causes either this unit or another unit to stay awake and use power. It would take careful analysis of the data bus and each data packet to determine the exact cause. |
about the radio thing, that happened to me once where it stayed on
well what happened was the one of the cupholder guides (The part that adjusts to the size of the cup) fell off and i accidently spilled some liquid there, dont remember what it was and it stayed on. It didnt effect the battery itself and i thought i had to get it jumped but it returned to functioning as normal after like a day or two |

That's a good point. Like mentioned above liquid got into the electrics under the arm rest and caused a similar problem. Replacing the dash unit may not help although I think he said he unplugged it (removed from dash) and the parasitic drain went away. Anxiously awaiting the result |
Mine ended up being Fuse 81 (Rear washer). After pulling out 75 I still had a draw of 1.5 so I removed one at a time with 75 out. Got to 81 and it dropped down to .38. Plugged back in 75 and (inserted DVD).... left the culprit fuse 81 out and draw dropped down to <.3 after the GPS systems did their thing.

I'm not really good with electrical work but I found on REAL OEM the schematic for the wiper assembly and the pump under the hood. Since neither the pump or wiper seems to respond to the steering wheel controls I think my next steps will be to remove the wiper motor connector to see if I can keep the draw down with the fuse in. If it works I know i have a bad motor, I'll do the same test with the pump. Not the best in electrical so I'm just going by the facts and logical next steps. |
What is considered an "acceptable" draw (non-parasitic) after the car goes to sleep? My 2005 4.8is draws around 1.65 amps before and around 0.07 amps after it goes to sleep.
I gather from the previous posts that 0.02 is more the norm, do I still have a problem in mine? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
I think the X5 security systems draw way more than other systems. As long as you are down to that level I would not worry about it.
Any aftermarket items with an LED on? |
My 4.8is has a very low 'fan' type noise behind the climate control panel that does not turn off. Unsure if it is a fan in there and the remedy. My battery stays charged, even with front and rear cameras running 24/7, but I start it up and drive it every few days or so. My 4.4i does not exhibit the same.
