I don't know about you but I haven't done that so I am not saying you are wrong. I am saying there is not enough apples to apples information here to make a declaration one way or the other. Further, IMO, there are lots of questions about transmissions because so many of us don't have experience troubleshooting or DIYing transmissions.

You can make fun of my post all you want, your logic will still be flawed.

I wasn't make fun at all. Sorry if you took it the wrong way.

I do understand that most of the time, people start threads when they have issues not success stories.

Please try that again so my pea brain understands how I took it wrong and explain what was so funny about your post.

LOL it's all good, guys.

That being said, I still love it. :)

Almost 1 yr/15K miles with the 4.8iS and I still love it. The only downside is how thirsty it is. Some snapshots of it as of today.

Looking good Al!

I agree, she's a thirsty one. I never let it get under 1/2 tank anymore haha. Hard to pay for that $80 full tank haha

Transmission has not been a weak link for me.

And because you did the right service treatment with ZF fluid you are having great success with your tranny. I personally believe that if the fluid is changed every 50-60K it will have a long healthy life in operation.

Yeah but he has been doing maintenance on his vehicle from day1. A lot of us got our X5s from a previous owner and even if the maintenance was done according to BMWs service plan its not the best from a longevity perspective. In addition I do not subscribe to BMWs recommended service intervals. Trans Fluid life time!!!, 25k oil change intervals are you kidding me? BMW does not want you to own your vehicles past warranty and definitely not over 100K. Not good for their business.

Yeah thinking about it. I've spoken to a few E53 owners in the area who would definitely be interested.
