I'm just about to hit 300,000 miles.

(Combining both me and wife's).

I do hope to get over 1/4mil on mine at least. Her's has seen a lot more city miles and the wear and tear is apparent.

Dewd- I think BMWCCA needs to know ab you. It may be on the 'more reliable' 3.0, but I'd love to see some positive press on the E53. :thumbup:

when i was shopping for a X5 about 5 years ago i found a red 2006 4.8is with 265k miles

Kewl X5 has 330,000+ miles on his E53, last I talked with him on FB...

2006 3.0 203,000 miles.

omg, i currently have 183K on my 03 4.4i. i bought mine a couple of years ago on auction. my question is this for you guys with high mileage, what major motor and transmission work do i need to do to keep it up to the 300K mile mark?

i'm aware of the chain guides, i'm planning on getting it done, as i don't know if the prior owner has had it done. also my transmission jerks when i drive up a hill. so i'm considering getting the transmission looked. i will love to keep this car for the next 5 years.
