I see. Mine is definitely dribbling out of the hole NEXT TO the water pump, not under the water pump.
I'm going to do the bimmerfix non-invasive kit. After this is fixed, I wouldn't be surprised if the coolant passage at the back of the engine above the transmission springs a leak. It seems to let go at the weakest point then just goes downhill from there :dunno: |
im curious to learn ppl's experience with brand of pipe... I recently started leaking some coolant and turns out it leaks from the back of top of the engine, which indicates valley pan, however since I am in there, might as well do the coolant pipe.. BUT that AGA complete kit, is pretty high priced.. However, if I were to go with the URO pipe and buy everything else separately from BMW, i supposed I would save upwards of $300 or so..
so, which pipe are ppl going with? if you go with the AGA, are you guys opting for the complete kit with valley pan etc? |

I know this is a little late, but I had the the dreaded leak too but opted to use the bimmerfix kit to do the fix. So far I am happy with the fix, no leaks after about 500 miles, but I am still checking everyday for a leak. I've done this repair on my brother's 7 series using AGA. It still is holding up coming up on 2 years, but it was WAY more labor intensive.
The only gripe I have about the bimmerfix kit is its price. There is really only about $30 dollars worth of materials in there, however, I do have to say that paying for it is a better deal than the hassle of doing so much labor. |
My leak has mysteriously stopped. I am not losing any coolant. I had the car pressure tested as well and it is "not loosing any coolant". I'm just gonna leave it for now. If it comes down to it I'll go for the Bimmerfix kit.
Right now my brake booster is circling the drain so that's gotta be fixed first. |

Had the same problem with mine, 4.6.

Mine started under similar circumstances. I got "coolant low", then I saw a leak from the bottom of the radiator. I replaced the radiator. As I did that I figured I might as well replace the coolant so I changed out all the coolant too.
Once I put everything back together I got a leak from the radiator lower hose (where the sensor in the smaller hose plugs into the bigger hose - o-ring failed). I replaced that o-ring, then all was well for a few days then I saw some more coolant on the floor. Pulled off the intake under body protection and saw some minor dried coolant at the bottom of the engine towards the center. I took off the intake pipes from above and saw small amounts of coolant dribbling out of the hole. Had the car taken to local BMW independent specialist who put a pressure tester on the car. They called me that evening and said that the pressure tester had been on there all day and they can't find any leaks. Quote:
