I have posted here and the feedback I get is that the SAS rarely goes bad. And that I should either go to dealer for a scan or do it myself with INPA or equivalent. I am currently gathering the hardware to finally learn INPA, etc. I am also going to take my ABS module to BBA to have them check the work they did to it 2 years ago to just rule that out. Just giving you my info so that you can move forward accordingly. I will update once I make some progress.

If you're getting a SAS fault it's your SAS. I've had that fault. You can clear it until the cows come home but it will come back until you replace the SAS. It will need to be coded after you do.

going to go ahead and order a creator 310, its only $60 so I can be prepared.

I looked up the steering angle sensor and looks like it is basically the steering wheel clock spring for the SRS system?

do you seriously have to take the entire dash out to replace this thing like in this video?

No, you don't have to take out the entire dash. It's NOT the clock spring. It's lower down the steering wheel shaft. It's a PITA, but you only have to pull panels from under dash at the steering wheel.
