solid yellow trifecta
the trifecta showed up earlier and its solid yellow on all three. I've been browsing through threads on here and do I "need" the creator 310 to properly diagnose this without throwing parts at the car or is there another way?
its only $60 on ebay but what else can I use this thing for? or is there an app I can download on my phone and use my bluetooth obd2 adapter to find a code to fix this? |
my battery is only a couple months old and once my wife gets home from the store I will test the alternator with my multimeter (watching our 6 month old right now).
considering how long I was running around town today though with the lights on I highly doubt its the alternator though. |
ok, 12.36v key off and 14.14v car running so alternator is good

A better and cheaper software is BMW Scanner 1.4, but you need an old windows laptop. Inpa is fairly cheap also, but a lot harder to get up and running.

For basic codes $20 wifi adapter and $10 pro phone app. Watch the voltage for fluctuations especially on RPM drop like coming to a stop. A single dip below 12 will kick in trifecta. Did you have any symptoms etc around the problem? I've had yellow trifecta from a loose abs sensor

I too have the trifecta and have for a few months. I have a Creator 310 and I keep getting steering angle sensor fault. I clear it, the lights stay on. I have posted here and the feedback I get is that the SAS rarely goes bad. And that I should either go to dealer for a scan or do it myself with INPA or equivalent. I am currently gathering the hardware to finally learn INPA, etc. I am also going to take my ABS module to BBA to have them check the work they did to it 2 years ago to just rule that out. Just giving you my info so that you can move forward accordingly. I will update once I make some progress.

solid yellow trifecta
Trifecta doesn't clear right away. If you clear the code you need to drive a minute or two before it will clear. If you get a repeat code (steer angle) etc. If brake turns red it's likely the fluid is low.
Try to drive without steering after reset to see if trifecta will clear. If it does then comes on when you steer you've determined it's the steer angle sensor |
ok, well the lights went out on their own but from what I've read on here, if they come on once...they will definitely come back on later.
going to go ahead and order a creator 310, its only $60 so I can be prepared. I looked up the steering angle sensor and looks like it is basically the steering wheel clock spring for the SRS system? do you seriously have to take the entire dash out to replace this thing like in this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rckQyUf00xI |
been watching several youtube videos and dont know which scan tool to buy?
INPA BMW scan 1.4 creator c310 I'm thinking bmw scan 1.4 because its interface looks better even though inpa can activate individual components...but everything is in german lol |

This might help.... https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...column/EVGG82L If you replace the sensor, it will need recalibrating using BMW software. |
