Hah! I can only imagine. Although the wife has been talking about the exige for a few years... So maybe I'll find out one day. ;)

Exige? I cannot fathom another car whose sole purpose is to have fun, drive fast, and look uber cool and rare while doing so.

You are lucky to have such understanding wife.

I will have to give up my 535xi 6 speed in order to buy this x5.

I do love the Porsches and have raced them professionally for a living for the last 30 years. My last IMSA Championships were back to back 2016 and 2017 ST and GS. 987 in ST and 981 GT4 Clubsport in GS. I also am a National Tech for PCA running the Trophy East Series and have raced all the 997.1, 997.2, 991.1 and 991.2 GT3 Championships. No Lotus work but lots of Lamborghini's. ;)

But once you add back the Lucas smoke to the electrical system, everything is fine again.

I have noticed once the smoke leaves the harness, things stop working. Do you have a link for that replacement smoke? Does it come in a 5 gallon size?

[QUOTE=Maruzo;1129332]This is my fifth bimmer so yeah, i'm quite aware of the pros and cons.

Still need a good shop because the owner in my old one retired...[/QUOTE

You will have to run through that E53. Timing guides will occur by 100K. The cooling system will have to serviced which will include all of those lovely hoses that the E53. The Evaporator slow leak is another common one that comes up an yes if the tranny starts behaving funny well you know whats next.. Just some things to consider. I have a 4.6is and love it but it requires a higher degree of attention and maintenance involvement than than the BMW cars of that era.

I agree. Totally an entertainment vehicle. Which does not diminish her desire for it. ;) Understanding she is, but not when it comes to the Exige. LOL, she wants it for HER, and her alone. :D I am 6'8" tall and couldn't drive it (maybe even ride in it) even if I wanted to.

I've heard the LOTUS acronym before as well Upallnight, and the Lucas/Lucifer comparison. Also seen enough car programming to know a Lotus would not be a cheap addition to the stable. But the heart wants, what the heart wants. :dunno:

Bought my second Lotus from a girl who had it in college but she was getting married and the husband was too BIG to fit in the Lotus. At 6'-8" you might be able to shoehorn yourself into an Exige but it will not be a comfortable ride. The Exige top can be removed, but it is not a convertible. It is a hardtop that is bolted down like the fiberglass tops used on some BMW convertibles.
