Finally got my X5 yesterday. Cleaned it up slightly and started working on the tarnished headlight covers today. Looks pretty good after 2 hours of elbow grease and lots of polishing!
Does anyone know of a good way to remove the messed up clear bra? It's broken into many pieces on my hood and i'm having a hard time removing it piece by piece using a credit card. |
Looking good!

Enjoy!

Heat gun and adhesive remover will help getting the old crusty stuff off. Work in patches and keep the heat gun at a safe distance from the paint.

Congrats on the good looking ride.

That's AWESOME! In computer repair and other electronics we always called it"the magic smoke" eg. The diode quit working when the magic smoke was released Reminding me of an amazing example: my dad used to work on elevators; one day a huge diode blew on the top of an elevator while it was on a lower floor, the magic smoke of this particular diode smelled like rotten eggs and filled the entire elevator shaft with a 6 floor tall fart which was vented onto the top floor where we were when we called the elevator up! The smell just kept getting stronger and stronger for the better part of a minute! |

At the shop I was at we called it letting the genie escape. :D |
When learning electronics in the Navy we used "magic black boxes" as flow chart elements and phrases such as "and then some magic happens". Genie fits in well with that thought
