Aftermarket head unit Selection for an 03 4.6is with factory DSP and Navigation
1 Attachment(s)
I've been researching this subject for quite sometime and still don't have all the facts. There's too many selections but not a clear cut way of assembling what I need. Like to ask for some expert opinions on the exact accessories that could work for my needs.
I like the Eonon GA9201A because of its app processing speed and its likeness to the oem unit. I would like to have hdtv tuner, dvr, backup camera, bluetooth phone/ music streaming, and compatibility with my factory dsp. Can anyone suggest the exact accessories I need to get to complete my project? Much Obliged! Theo |
GA9201A won't fit since it's for e39. Should get GA9166A.

Good to know. What about tv tuners? Any suggestions?

Consider the Avant 3. I like it because it's one of the few e53-specific units that has digital (not analog) Apple CarPlay.
It looks 100% factory like Eonon. It has all your requirements except DVR, but honestly haven't seen anything for e53s that have that (I could be mistaken). Head Unit: https://avinusa.com/avant-3-for-bmw-...on-system.html TV Tuner: https://avinusa.com/atsc-digital-tv-...universal.html |

Seicane is pretty feature loaded.
What it doesn't have internal for under $400 you can add to it such as dvr, digital tv, dab+ if your overseas, ibus adapter to control all the factory features and some coding, etc. The apple carplay is the iffy part. I don't have an iphone so I have no clue what it can and cant do with that. I personally prefer my phone to only be involved with making phone calls. I let the radio do the rest so carplay is useless to me. So as long as the radio has Bluetooth to make phone calls with it then Im good phone wise. |

It wasn't perfect, but I don't know if that is my phone (Pixel XL, Android 8.1) or the 2018 Ford small SUV (Escape?) Sony system. But basically, a USB connection enabled me to see on the car's screen the Android apps Waze, Maps, Amzon Music, and even Plex each driven by my phone's unlimited cell plan. By 'imperfect' I mean that the connection would wet the bed every now and then and the car's own software would take over again. I had to physically plug and unplug the phone a number of times during the week. Now that I consider it, the problem could very well have been my USB cable. I never did try another. But my understanding is that Android Auto is supposed to work over Bluetooth. That would be cool, but I could see it sucking the life from a phone battery. Using one of the USB ports to charge and communicate may bring the best experience- If these things will connect to a phone with Android Auto installed. I'm anxious as hell to try it but both of my Android head units are outside of my reach right now. :( |
Is anyone realy read the question?
He ask for device which will work with factory DSP!!! As to my knowing only DINAVIN will work with factory DSP and all other it will play sound for second and then stop. Of corse there is other way to put MID contorler and radio modul etc etc.... but just to put media and work only DINAVIN |
