Well.. I'll save you the trouble. It won't work the way you want it to

The DICE can only control whats native to the unit. The 3.5mm is only and will always only be for audio. period. Now if you want to pair your BT to the china unit no problem but you will not be able to advance tracks or see song info because again, the 3.5mm jack is strictly for audio. You basically have a very expensive factory AUX jack with iPod integration for devices of yesteryear.

Your only maybe viable option is using a 30 pin to BT adapter like this one...

again.. im not a fan of adapter on adapters on adapters but it might be your only choice if you want to continue to use the DICE adapter

cheers.

The mediabridge is discontinued. I have seen some still advertised or on Ebay but some of the older models might not work with current phones. I think the last phone I used it with was an iPhone 6 or 6s.

Thanks, I'll try that.

I believe in Sirius mode you can hold down the SAT button for 3 seconds and it will display.

I was actually curious about that. Thanks for addressing it

Perfect! That's what I thought on the 3.5mm jack.

I love the Bovee module, I didn't know it existed. I think I will give it a try. That's what so great about our forum is finding out about solutions all together. The DSP is the hardest part about getting all these devices to work. That's why I went with Dice so many years ago.

I ordered the Bovee and selected overnight shipping. I should have an update tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!

Hope it works out! Im curious to see if the on screen display and steering controls still work with that unit.

Well here are the mixed results with the Bovee 1000 Bluetooth module connected to the Dice iPod interface with Dice DSP adapter.

Both iPhone 8 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge can connect and stream music or any audio (YouTube, I Heart Radio, Audio Books, etc) with no issue

But neither iPhone 8 or Samsung will give text for the track-album-artist and the steering wheel controls for up/down track only work on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

I tried my old iPhone 3 connected directly to the 30 pin and it works perfect so it must be that my Dice firmware is just too old.

For giggles I connected the wife's iPad and it works the same as her iPhone, streams everything but no steering wheel track control.

The factory BMW Bluetooth hands free connects no problem (2 separate Bluetooth connections) and it will pause the streaming input if a call is received as it should.

The 2 failures are the track text information should be displayed on the MID or High Cluster for both phones and steering wheel controls for track up/down should work on the iProducts. (Volume steering wheel controls work as they should on all devices)

So in the end, it is a dual phone streaming solution and the sound quality is excellent but it is still not enough to satisfy my OCD.

Nice write up. I had a feeling it was a shot in the dark. Thats why I said maybe. But yeah not a fan of adapters on adapters because something is always left behind... in this case its the remote and info functionality. I could probably get by with your set up as im not as much OCD.

NONE.

I went with a Grom unit to get bluetooth so that I could answer and make phone call as well as stream music to the original head unit. My X came with DSP.

Yep GROM is a good choice.Thats what I use in the 4.6is

They make an Aux. Port that is a simple plug-in arrangement that gives you a standard 3.5mm female jack that you can route to the glovebox, then use a male/male aux cable and plug it into your phone, or whatever source you want to use.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...gaAjAnEALw_wcB

Remove the head unit, behind it there is a wire harness that is wrapped with black gauze tape, unwrap the gauze and you will find a 2-pin connector, this is where the Aux Port is connected. You then use the MODE button on the display screen to toggle to Aux. The Waze lady will give traffic information through the sound system as it comes up. I don't recall what happens to the BT connections, but I can't think of any reason why BT for the phone services would not work while using the Aux Port.

I have the '05 with the MK IV Nav System. I recall that there are two different connectors buried in the harness. That is, there are two sizes of connectors that are available. I bought the wrong one first.
