If cleaning my connector doesn't fix my random transmission switch problems I will likely swap mine and wife's TCM to determine if my problem is in the TCM vs inside the transmission. As reasonable it now seems to pull the selector switch it's 20-30x the effort of swapping TCM s.

If you get a TCM with the same part number, you don't need to code it, but if the TCM has a different part number then you will have to get it coded. BMW just doesn't make it easy for DIYer to be working on their cars.

Do you think it might be helpful if replacing the ABS module?

andrewwynn 09-11-2018 11:04 PM

Won't affect the codes you describe

Hi... I replaced TCM. Do I need erase the codes or do something else? Because the three warning lights not gone. Thanks in advance!

You have to erase codes they should reset the gear icon but if the problem is legit they will just come back.

No codes but three lights still on.

Hong 09-14-2018 04:18 PM

I mean codes erased.

You don't have be a second level scanner? If abs or brake light on the module should report error.
