Help! 2000 E53 4.4i

Hello...I have a car with 150000 miles. Engine light is on and three other signs, ABS, BRAKE and Lack of Power. And the speedometer is not working.

What it's done?
1, Transmission fluid changed only. Bought fluid from BAVAUTO and followed its video. Tried to replace the filter and gasket but failed because the screws are stuck and many of them are stripped. Still struggling with these issues.
2, Changed all four wheel speed sensors;
3, Checked all fuses related. No brown fuses.
4, Bought a BMW KDCAN device from Germany and get a report attached.
5, Went to a shop and was told that it's not worth to repair the transmission.

Codes (more details attached)
31 EGS:Symptom, gear monitoring
3B EGS:Stall speed
34 EGS: Gear monitoring 2

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I just went through a terrible scare with my transmission with numerous bad codes and failsafe.

It dawned on me that I sprayed my car clean while the E box cover was off and probably got the TCM wet.

Opened it up and yikes.

Cleaned it up and put it back together and transmission is working perfectly again. Maybe you can borrow a TCM or buy cheap on eBay I don't know if TCM like the DME needs to be coded to the car.

Jeepers, andrewwyn, you(may have) dodged a bullet there... :yikes:

Yes I've had a high anxiety couple of days. I'm still dealing with a couple problems but my transmission worked flawlessly on about an hour long test drive of every sort of driving.

Andrew, I will check it and update it. Thanks!

Hi Andrew,

It's a long waiting. Finally here's the updating with pics.
1\Remove the E-box cover
2\Disconnect all wire connections, relay connectors and take out the Carrier Control Unit (https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=12_1050)
3\ Pull out TCM and DME. It's pretty clean and dry. So I stopped there without opening the case to avoid making things worse.
4\ Checking the E-box Blower Motor to fix one of the codes (DME:activation, electric fan).

It seems the luck is not with me and I have to go to the last option. I will struggle with it because I really like my car. Thanks anyway!

Have you reset the codes for EGS and see what comes back? I've been fighting with some bad signals from my transmission switch and I've gotten lots of crazy error codes that boil down to likely a bad transmission selector switch or connector or TCM.

For only $25 on eBay I would buy a used TCM before doing major mechanical work on the trans

So far it's not finished the E-box installation. But I will update it when everything is installed back. Do I need program it if replacing the TCM with a used one? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure TCM does not need to be paired to the car, however it probably does store the adaptations so it would be good if they are reset ether from the seller or by you after replacing.

If cleaning my connector doesn't fix my random transmission switch problems I will likely swap mine and wife's TCM to determine if my problem is in the TCM vs inside the transmission. As reasonable it now seems to pull the selector switch it's 20-30x the effort of swapping TCM s.

I see. I will to to ebay to check the used TCM. Thanks for your valuable opinions! That means a lot to me. My bottom of line is to rebuild the transmission myself. :(
