If you can get it on a lift (or even with one wheel up0 grab the tire and see if you can feel any play.

When my control arm went bad, there was a clunk at low speed when going over a speed bump. That was the only symptom that I had. When I had the front wheel jacked up, when grabbing the wheel at 3 & 9, I was able to move the ball joint on the arm.

The control arm is sold as one piece complete with the ball joint.
