Sigh... looks ugly

Hey Guys, I'm actually having a similar issue with my ABS and traction control lights being on along with the ( ! ) mark.

My buddy scanned my 03 X5 4.6is and got the following codes

81 Druck Sensor Leitungsunterbrechung
error frequency : 255
ASC - nicht passiv geschaltet

ABS - regelung passiv
BLS - nicht betaetigt
ASC - regelung passiv

ACB - passiv

HBA - passiv

ECD - passiv

HDC - passiv

108 SN-Ueberwachung
Error frequency : 248

Fahrzeuggeschwindigkeit

ASC - nicht passiv geschaltet

ABS - regelung passiv
BLS - betaetigt
ASC - regelung passiv

ACB - passiv

HBA - passiv

ECD - passiv

HDC - passiv

105 Bremslichtschalter Plausibilitaet
Error Freq : 238

Fahrzeuggeschwindigkeit

ASC - nicht passiv geschaltet

ABS - regelung passiv
BLS - nicht betaetigt
ASC - regelung passiv

ACB - passiv

HBA - passiv

ECD - passiv

HDC - passiv

Needless to say, regrettably I don't speak German and I'm really hoping it isn't my ABS module.

I had just replaced my pads and rotors and had compressed the pistons to install the new pads which overflowed the brake fluid resivour. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it but I'm describing whatever i can think of. I replaced the brake pad wear sensor also.

I'm hoping you guys can help as we're now going into winter and not having traction control or ABS might suck...

Google Translate says: -

81 Pressure sensor line interruption
error frequency: 255
ASC - not switched passive

ABS control passive
BLS - not activated
ASC control passive

ACB - passive

HBA - passive

ECD - passive

HDC - passive

108 SN monitoring
Error frequency: 248

vehicle speed

ASC - not switched passive

ABS control passive
BLS - operated
ASC control passive

ACB - passive

HBA - passive

ECD - passive

HDC - passive

105 Brake light switch Plausibility
Error Freq: 238 vehicle speed

ASC - not switched passive

ABS control passive
BLS - not activated
ASC control passive

ACB - passive

HBA - passive

ECD - passive

HDC - passive

Looking at this, I dare say that a couple of these could be due to the overflowing master cylinder reservoir....

The brake light switch is a good place to start - (easy, cheap) - then move on the other harder (more expensive) items. ;)

Thanks for your input. I know i have a brake light bulb out on the passenger side which I have to replace. I drained a bunch of the brake fluid out of the resivour. We tried to erase the codes but they wouldn't erase.

There is an error that says the pressure sensor is not working. Nothing abs related will work without pressure feedback

If the codes remain, the fault still exists....

where would I begin to look for that pressure sensor? Thanks guys for helping me out with this.

After some more research, I'm going to pull my wheel off and check my speed sensor. I just replaced my axel and rotors so I"m hoping it has something to do with that... Fingers Crossed.

Have a good look at any sensors and wiring/connectors around the master cylinder too - given that you may have gotten brake fluid onto some of them when the reservoir overflowed.....

GOFAST GUY 10-22-2018 07:04 PM

I'll take a look also. Thanks
