Anodized window trim fix
Anyone have any luck restoring the anodized trim around the windows??? Messed with it a little today, did some spots to see what might work best. Still wasn’t happy with the results. Best results I got were with 1000 grit paper dry then menzera polish with a oscillating polisher. Looked about a 7 out of 10 in most spots???

Why would you sand it .....all it needs it to be polished out ! Once polished, seal it, coat it, etc just to keep the elements @ bay, but it does dull out over time regardless.

Polish would not cut threw the oxidation

Is yours glossy or matte? I would try compound or cleaner wax. I have to do this myself soon.

I wouldn't sand it. Just wrap it.

The sanding removes the oxidation and doesn’t scratch the metal then the polish makes it shine

How about clay baring to remove oxidation?

Clay bar won't remove oxidation. Same goes to polish. Not enough to cut through oxidation either.
Tried and done that myself. Haven't tried sanding and polish yet, but please give yourself a try and keep us updated. :) I think that is the only way to remove oxidation on window trim other than wrapping it. |
Trying some spots later will see!!!

Maybe a little Autosol? They make several grades - The Marine version is pretty good as a fine cutting compound. I use that and the standard version for all manner of tasks...
