custom ctek connector cable needs fuse?

Hello to all, sorry if i am boring everyone but basically i have the same clip as per image, I have the same gauge cable 18awg and will basically extend it so that I can run one end from the jump points(charging points in engine bay) and the other end where i will plug in charger (yet to be decided) but will be exposed to elements maybe in grill area or under wipers near windscreen gulley...

Reviews I read say cap is splash proof and dust proof, would i therefore need to install some sort of fuse to my extended wiring in case this splash proof cap is compromised and the the +ve and -ve points of this loop are completed and I get this cable heating up or burning down my X5?

Whole purpose of this is to avoid opening the front to get to the lug points to charge....and alas seems I have to to this every week until i sort out my starter and or get a few more miles per week done to keep my battery live.any tips puch appreciated

I recall someone using a magnetic connector. Under hood to fender liner, then magnetic connection to trickle charger. M3 I think. Neat idea.

Also I did some snooping about in the inards of X5 and think I can run my cable from the charge points in engine to the up grill in the front bumper and to be frank that would be fine and convenient too, just need to make sure somehow i make the spalsh proof housing a bit more thaty splash proof as dont ever want the spacing between the 2 connectors bridged when not on charge cos as mentioned may result in a crispy X5....

It would be best to install a fuse or fuseable link close to the positive lug. If the extension wire ever rubs through, gets caught in the fan or who knows what, you could definitely have a problem with things getting crispy.

Have you checked alternator output, for parasitic draw, load tested battery or explored a new battery with better specs? If you are driving 20 minutes or more at a time you shouldn't be having this problem.

I use a tender on two of my cars because they don’t get driven weekly (one is resting through winter now).

I used to use the cig lighter and run the cord through a cracked window or across the door rubber, then I started doing under hood connections since the lighter isn’t hot on all cars. But I leave the hood up so I don’t get in a rush and drive off with the tender still connected!
