custom ctek connector cable needs fuse?

Hello to all, sorry if i am boring everyone but basically i have the same clip as per image, I have the same gauge cable 18awg and will basically extend it so that I can run one end from the jump points(charging points in engine bay) and the other end where i will plug in charger (yet to be decided) but will be exposed to elements maybe in grill area or under wipers near windscreen gulley...

Reviews I read say cap is splash proof and dust proof, would i therefore need to install some sort of fuse to my extended wiring in case this splash proof cap is compromised and the the +ve and -ve points of this loop are completed and I get this cable heating up or burning down my X5?

Whole purpose of this is to avoid opening the front to get to the lug points to charge....and alas seems I have to to this every week until i sort out my starter and or get a few more miles per week done to keep my battery live.any tips puch appreciated
